Acceleration and maximum velocity is important to a number of sports such as track and field, soccer and American football. The technical ability to apply ground reaction force in a more horizontal direction has been found to be important to both acceleration and maximal velocity sprint. Resisted sled training, ranging from lighter to heavier loads, is a training method used to target both acceleration and maximal velocity. The efficacy of resisted sled training has been found to be equivocal.

1080 Motion comment: the ability to document load and speed can make training and research into how horizontal load affect acceleration and maximum speed better. Sleds are subject to differences in friction based upon load added, surface, temperature etc. Furthermore, dynamic and static friction will be different when using sleds. 1080 Sprint offers a system where load and speed can be carefully controlled.
