Bypass traditional Windows desktop Bluetooth connection point

Published September 26, 2023

In this update, we have made these key improvements:

  1. Bypass traditional Windows desktop Bluetooth connection point
  2. Improved capabilities for Change of Direction exercises
  3. New “Set Resistance” button when training to simplify setting of loads and speed limits
  4. Add option to display force and power as a function of body weight
  5. Added help buttons for easier navigation of user interface

1.  Bypass traditional Windows desktop Bluetooth connection point

  • Reworked the machine connection mechanism so that it is no longer necessary to do Connect As… → Access Point before starting the 1080 software:
    1. Open 1080 Motion user interface application before connecting with the Bluetooth desktop shortcut.
    2. The new “Connect Machine” button is located in the upper right corner. Press on the button and pop-up connection options appear with blue dot indicating a machine is turned on and within range. If gray circle appears, confirm unit is turned on and in range of Bluetooth.
    3. Choose the correct machine to connect with. Please note all machines turned on and with previous Bluetooth pairing will appear.
    4. User will recognize successful connection when the control bar for load, mode and speed appears at the bottom of the screen.
    • Note: The traditional option to connect via Windows desktop shortcut (right click → “Connect As…”) is still supported as a fall-back option
    • Note: It’s now possible to reconnect to the machine without having to restart the application

2. Improved capabilities for Change of Direction exercises

  • Support runs with any number of turns, allowing all types of shuttle runs (multiple turns) to be performed.
  • Improved New Run dialog showing exercise instructions and allowing temporarily overriding settings for number of turns, distance, end position etc.
  • Support having the CoD finish line at a different place than the start position
  • Allows automatic start direction (Assisted or Resisted)
  • To access, select “Modify Settings” button

3. New “Set Resistance” button when training to simplify setting of loads and speed limits

  • From previous set: Retrieves speed limitsloads and mode from the most recently performed set for this client and exercise type and applies them on the machine. This is especially useful when switching between clients during a session.
  • From body weight: Set the Concentric and Eccentric loads as a percentage of the current client’s body weight. The percentage value is remembered, making it easy to use the same percentage for all clients during a session.
  • From Exercise: A coach can configure default loads and speed limits in the exercise type. These will then be accessible from the training session.

Figure C: Options to set resistance with less clicks and use historical data found in the single reps training view.

Figure D: The machine will not change load or speed limits until confirmed by the user.

Figure E: Users can create and modify their exercises to specify load and speed to improve effectiveness of user setup.

4. Add option to display force and power as a function of body weight

  • Add option to display force and power as a function of body weight (i.e. W/kg or N/kg) to make it easier to compare performance between clients or against historical sets from the same client.

5. Added help buttons for easier navigation of user interface

  • Certain dialogs and screens have a “Help” button which will display more details explaining how to use that particular function of the application.
  • More content will be added in upcoming releases
